Aja Carr Favors practices primarily in the area of family law, representing both petitioners and respondents in divorce, parental responsibility and visitation, child support, property division, and spousal support cases.
 
While in law school, Ms. Favors served as an extern with the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Office of the General Counsel (TANF, Medicare and Medicaid), the Chicago Park District’s tort litigation division, the Labor Relations department of the Chicago Public Schools (administrative hearings), the Illinois Human Rights Commission (appeals), and the Illinois Employee and Labor Relations Board (administrative hearings).

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Favors served as Political Director to former Illinois Lieutenant Governor, Sheila Simon, and Religious Affairs Director for the campaign of former Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn. In 2013, she was appointed to the Illinois African American Family Commission, where she focused her efforts on economic development in marginalized communities. Ms. Favors has worked with numerous not for profit and Christian organizations—assisting with the stewardship and administration of more than $100 million in trust and annuity assets and more than $600 million in endowed assets.

Ms. Favors volunteers with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. She is also a member of the Cook County Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association. Ms. Favors received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree in theological studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a juris doctor from Valparaiso University Law School.
