Recently, the Illinois Legislature has approved House Bill 1589, Public Act 97-659, which allows a court, upon a proper motion, to designate a person know to the child (not necessarily a relative) to exercise reasonable substitute visitation on behalf of a parent who is deployed or who has orders to be deployed. This is great news for parents who will be deployed and who are having visitation disputes concerning their children.
