The Illinois Acupuncture Act now requires training and certification for those licensed under the Act, who hold themselves out as practitioners of Chinese Herbology. Those practitioners must now be certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, or they can hold equivalent status if approved by the IDFPR.
